Complete with a guided underground tour, multimedia theatres, engaging exhibits, and an outdoor science park, this iconic space entertains visitors of all ages in an interactive and educational setting.

The Big Nickel

Sudbury’s iconic attraction, the Big Nickel, is an exact replica of the 1951 Canadian nickel. It was built in 1964 and symbolizes the wealth that Sudbury has contributed to the Canadian economy through nickel production. The base enables the public to walk around and under the 13,000-kg coin, with barrier-free access. The perfect place for a selfie!

Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada, is about a two hour drive from Sudbury, and you enter the Island by driving over a swing bridge. If you have the time, it is worth the drive to experience this largest freshwater island in the world! Juli grew up going to her cottage in Providence Bay, the definition of paradise! There is the option to return to Toronto by taking the Chi-Cheemaun ferry from South Bay Mouth to Tobermory. The travel time ends up being similar, but you save two hours of driving and get to enjoy a beautiful boat ride through the North Channel.

Killarney Provincial Park
